Choose Your Ministry Assignment
Months ago when this unique mission was first considered, immediately the idea of “mission partners” was proposed by SMONCT's director, Don Blackley.
All “mission partners” must think of themselves as deeply involved in this mission in Ukraine as any of the Singing Men. It was prayed from the very outset that each “mission partner” would embrace this idea throughout the entire itinerary – some participating in event support, some on the prayer team, some in relationship building, and others helping in organization.
The opportunities will be great, the spiritual challenges constant, the reaped rewards fulfilling, and the fellowship and joy unforgettable.
“Mission partners who are committed to making this ministry authentic international evangelism from start to finish is the need of the hour,” said Evangelist Michael Gott.
Each person on this mission team will have a ministry assignment. On this mission in Ukraine there is no work that is unimportant and no extra person. The sign up sheet has a place for you to write your top two ministry choices
As you read about the four teams, ask God to impress you which team you should join.
Prayer Team
This will be one of the most important to this mission. The prayer team will go into the auditoriums and concert halls early for prayer, and take part in an organized prayer with Ukrainian believers. If you join this team you will be responsible to promote an attitude of looking to God for His blessing among all the mission partners and in all situations during the days of mission. (Need 20 - 2 groups of 10. One group will attend the concert and pray throughout the concert while the other team meets for prayer in a designated room outside the concert hall. The next evening the prayer teams will trade places.)
Greeting Team
Greeters are extremely important at the concerts. To join this team, you need to be comfortable in greeting and assisting people who speak a different language. The greeters will work with members of the Ukrainian churches in welcoming those who come to the concerts. They will also hand out the program/decision card and a pen to each person who attends. At the end of the concert greeters will take up the decision card and give each person a free CD with songs by the Singing Men of North Central Texas and a simple Gospel message translated into Russian. They will also give out free copies of the New Testament to everyone who would like a copy. (Need 30 for this team to be placed at strategic points to meet people coming and going.)
Advertising Team
This team will work in the city during the afternoon handing out hundreds of invitations to the evening concert. Click on the itinerary to see schedule of advertising in each city. Small, colorful 3”x 3” invitations with details of the concert will be printed and ready before we arrive in each city. This team will accompany the singing men and young people from the churches in groups of 5 to 10 going to the markets and bus stops. Advertising posters will be placed in the city for two weeks before we come, but advertising on the day of the concert is a final blitz so that the maximum number of people can hear the message of forgiveness and hope. Everyone who is free in the afternoons can join the choir and advertising team and help them hand out invitations. Going to the streets with the choir members is a great experience, and the Bible tells us to do it!
English Team
Michael Gott English Language Evangelism teams have worked in every city where we will have concerts and evangelism on this tour. In fact, they were in Sevastopol and Yalta in February 2011 and will be in Simferopol and Evpatoria in winter, 2012 which is just 2 months before the April tour. Prior students will have a special ticket. The English Team will greet them outside the hall, welcome them and have a visit as we escort them as VIPs to their special seating section which will be held until 20 minutes before the concert. Their ticket will ask them to arrive by 6:30. It is important that they be made to feel special since they already know Michael and have heard the Gospel in a Michael Gott course. We believe that many of these students will be ready to make a serious commitment to Christ because seeds have already been planted. (Those who worked on this team in October, 2010 will realize that the above is different than the English program we had then. We realized in 2010 that many former students came to the concert but did not have time to come for the lesson and the concert. This plan allows us to speak to them and give them reserved seats, but does not require a 3 hour commitment of their time.)
